Description of the offense:
Okay so I joined the server around 4:39 and I had 93 mods loaded 1 of them was apparently a cheat mod. I’ve read the rules I’m in the wrong on that how ever I’ve been playing on NAK Squad for years now but not once have I gone on the website to go through the rules another mistake on my part. I have joined in the server today with all of my mods loaded and the battleEye pretty much told me to unload them so I got kicked back to the server screen, closed the game and unloaded all of my mods. So I was playing for about an hour with no mods when I got banned for cheating. Which threw me completely off guard. So I installed teamspeak to come talk to an admin about this issue. My brother comes in and we’re sitting in the initial join channel until we were pulled in. I was unable to talk initially because I didn’t have my PTT set and the admin in there was nice enough to tell me where that setting was. My bro was talking in the mean time (also to said admin I am not here to excuse his behavior or what he said good or bad). So before this I didn’t come on the site and thoroughly read the rules about the back sass whether it be from me or a friend. I have to say that’s absolutely BS, that I am perma banned for someone else talking. He did not speak for me once I was able to speak. I didn’t back talk I was just wondering why 1 mod got me a 1 day ban even though I have 93 others loaded at the same time but after reading here on the forums ok cool I get that. The perma ban is over the line. I stopped talking because I was just astonished and was just gathering my thoughts and then the admin said well your friend just got you perma banned and before I could reply I am banned off the teamspeak as well. I am no longer caring about the 1 day ban I get it after reading the rules on here, I’ll take the 1 day ban punishment even though I think I could’ve been cut some slack on my first offense which was a genuine accident.You could’ve cut me some slack because it was an accident, should’ve told me what I did wrong and if I came and did it again for sure 100% can me, throw me out the window. That’s how I would’ve handled the situation. ( I was told what I did (“wrong”) “You had the 1 mod that was a cheat mod” but my bro cut me off and started talking before I could articulate that it was an accident) I feel that the Perma is an unfair ban for something that was not by MY doing. I also can’t even message the person who banned me so we could talk it out and see what’s good because I was banned off TeamSpeak.

I feel that this is admin abuse more than just a ban appeal because the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. I would like to be unbanned so I can play again or at the very least hash it out.

The bans in the system are 1 day on TS and 1 day in-game, they were never anything other than that.

You were pulled into the channel, your brother joined the help room. Not a big difference, but he inserted himself into your situation. If you alone would have come in, I would have explained how to enable push to talk, like I did, and we could have spoken without your friend/brother at all. At no time did you object to him speaking for you.

It is not an accident to load a mod, you manually have to enable it. Loading a mod of which the only purpose is for cheating, does affect your credibility. Part of my job as an admin is to protect the integrity of NAK Squad as a community. The fact that you did not own up to trying to cheat and based on your own admission that you never bothered to read the rules, not enforcing the ban would be a disservice to the community, and would be like us condoning the use of cheating mods.

You were banned for one day even though the rules allow up to a permanent ban for the first offense. This was all explained to you, then you slightly, and your friend/brother mostly, were arguing about the rules. To be honest in many cases when players acknowledge their error I do give them a chance. In your case, you only made excuses for why you loaded a mod for cheating. I never remove a ban when a player does not own up to their mistakes.

He did not speak for me once I was able to speak.

He did continue to speak for you once you could talk. At no time did you object to him speaking for you. His final statement was ‘thanks for ruining ‘our’ night ass’. The statement I then made was “your friend is going to get you perma banned”. Continuing to argue over the rules was not going to get you anywhere and was likely to get you perma banned, so I banned you from TeamSpeak as well as the game server which is also clearly allowed as stated in the rules. “Punishment enforced on the Arma servers may carry over to all NAK servers, including TeamSpeak.” When you were banned from TeamSpeak it specifically stated that the ban was for one day. The additional reason for the ban in-game is to flag the account for cheating so that all other admins can see that you have a history using unapproved mods. One more point of clarity, you did have more than one unapproved mod loaded when you first connected, but none, other than the cheat mod, were ones that we would normally ban for.

I understand that if you were permanently banned that you might be upset, but you are not and were never permanently banned. Just so we are clear, I was well within my rights as stated by the rules to permanently ban you for loading a mod that has no other purpose than to cheat and ‘hack’ the server. At no point, even if you were permanently banned, did I abuse my power as an admin. Your argument, still, is that you do not like the rule and think that the rule is unfair, but enforcing the rules as written is not admin abuse. You agreed to the server rules when you connected to the server. We do not ask you to like or agree with the rules, but we must insist that you abide by them. Those rules are also on our website, on the billboards at spawn, on the map screen, and in the player diary. The rules state:

RULE #16) No Unapproved Mods
First Offense: Based on severity, up to a permanent ban.

NAK has a list of mods that are allowed on the server, you can find that list at https://www.naksquad.net/mod-list/. We generally will not ban a player for a minor violation, but using any mod a reasonable person would consider cheating will be considered a violation of this rule. These include but are not limited to invisibility, no clipping, teleport, unrestricted vehicle spawn, unlimited ammo and god mode. If you receive a script restriction when connecting to the server, you are using an unapproved mod.
