Modified - Scott - Ban for Killing Team-mates

On Thursday 18 January, I was banned for killing my own team mates at the spawn point. What happened was my headphones weren’t working, so I was firing my weapon on automatic while trying to troubleshoot the problem (seeing if I could hear a sound), not looking at the screen.

This is by far and away my favorite server, and I was very disappointed when I got the notification I was banned.

Please consider lifting the ban, so I can continue to enjoy this awesome community!

I appreciate the fast response and the feedback!

the admin that banned you is golden i will go find him for you

Hey scott,
The problem that I have with this is that base protection was, and still is, on. Bullets can’t travel or hurt anyone in the zone. Hell I ran into the center of enough explosions to drop fps significantly in the middle of the hangar and couldn’t be hurt (that’s a different story).
You know what I saw? I saw you right next to the server owner and when I moved my camera over you were right on top of him.

You know what I think happened? Physics still applies and I know there are animation mods out there that will kill people by jumping into them or by doing something similar.

Simply put, the protection prevents you from firing after the first bullet so the fully automatic statement can’t be correct. Damage can’t be done inside the safe zone through conventional methods so that’s strike two. Also, you just happened to be looking at a friendly when players spawn in staggered and you magically got right on top of him? Strike three. What you are describing simply isn’t possible on our server. A script kiddie couldn’t even inflict damage in the base.

Unless you can truly explain something that is possible or even just admit that you did something wrong, the ban will stay exactly as it is. Lying is one of the worst things that you can do. If people simply said to me, “hey I did this and I get it and I will take the consequences” then I would be much more lenient but frankly people lie to me all the time, even when I have video and logs.
In life you just take it. In my job if I were to lie about a mistake then people will probably die. Even if it’s just messing up some numbers and not wanting to do it over again. If a mistake happens it needs to be reported immediately so that it can be fixed by superiors or the entire team if need be. Sure there will be repercussions but a slap on the wrist is nothing compared to what happens if you get someone killed. I know this is an extreme case but it is an example of how things can go wrong if you carry this trait with you further into life.

I know what it’s like to present my case and be right but still have no one believe me. So if this is the case then I am sorry and I have definitely gone on too long about why I think lying is important and why it irritates me. However, if you did something wrong then just own up to it or you need to explain to me how it was an accident or how it may have bypassed base protection because at the moment your story doesn’t match with what I saw and what is possible.

Your ban expires 02/01/2018 5:42 PM (13d remaining). I know this is a more harsh punishment for intentionally team killing but I view it as trolling when you find a way to kill someone inside the base and just happened to log off.

Oh for sure I got the warning to not fire on base. I clicked it away twice I think, then set my rifle auto and started spraying. The warning message didn’t appear again after I clicked it away twice. I was more concerned with my stupid headphones acting up than I was about game rules or friendly fire. I knew there were guys in that area, but to be honest I didn’t think they would be effected. I thought maybe there was a protection thing or something at base that prevented players from dying. As I was spraying though, I was plugging/unplugging my USB headphones to try and get sound, I wasn’t looking at the screen. Simply holding my mouse button down and wiggling my USB port, trying to get some sound. I had had enough, and still wasn’t getting any audio, as my PC has been acting up a lot lately, so I control alt delete restated my pc right out of the game, so that’s what would have logged me off.

When I logged back on I found I had been banned.

In hindsight this was completely reckless and I felt very bad. I admit I made a mistake and that what I did was wrong, and ask for a second chance. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t care about the “no-firing at base” rule. I was just pissed at my PC. There were definitely better ways to trouble shoot my sound than listening for the shots of a fully automatic machine gun on base…

I had been playing legitimately on this server, mostly as a sniper or medic for a few weeks since I found it, and love it. I wouldn’t intentionally troll or do things to harm the community. I truly am sorry, and it certainly will not happen again.

Edit: I just re-read your response, and specifically what you said about no damage on base. As I said in this response I clicked away the no fire warning message twice. But after that I was able to fire with no issues. No warning popped up, and players were able to die. I’m not sure how that happened. I’m definitely not smart enough with computers to hack or anything like that. Server glitch? I didn’t move from the spot I spawned in I don’t think.

Not gonna lie I had a full response written out and the submit button hates me so I’ll make this one shorter lol.

You have been very respectful in all your responses and this was your first ban. I understand why you were more focused on the headphone issues than in game but unfortunately I still had to respond to what I saw.

I’m going to give you benefit of the doubt. As I said, I appreciate you being respectful in presenting your side of the story. You went through the effort to come here and make your case. I hope you can see why I treated this case the way that I did. Malicious users are common and I went off of what I saw at the time. I don’t see you as a user that is going to intentionally perform acts of malice based on only this one event and I can see you becoming an asset to our community.

Your ban is lifted and effective immediately you may play on our servers again.

Thank you for taking the time to present your case in the manner that you did.
Have fun!

Thank you. I appreciate the time you guys took to handle this properly. Just know that never for a second was I angry at the circumstances and I completely understand why it was handled in the way it was. Rules like these are what keeps servers running smoothly- I get that.

I really appreciate the quick response times from you, and your understanding.

Have a good one!
