  7. ANY EXPLANATION OR JUSTIFICATION FOR WHY THE BAN SHOULD BE LIFTED:

I deeply apologize for being very ignorant of the time I was taking to setup. I apologize as well for being very aware of the 90-minute Zeusing time limit but dismissing it as a flexible rule. I realize I was keeping the 10+ players waiting for way longer than is allowed and was therefore harming the NAK Community. I understand much more than before that the NAK Zeus is someone who is given the substantial responsibility by the NAK Admins to abide by a set of strict Zeusing guidelines, host a good Zeus mission that will increase the popularity of NAK, and encourage players to participate more in the NAK Community. My actions on that day were unacceptable and I see the punishment imposed on me for these actions as justified.

I begin my reflection on this incident by saying that ignorance is not bliss, but rather the contrary: a painful cost that increases exponentially for each ignorance. This is something I have learned not just from NAK but also from my life experience so far. After the initial shock, and yes I sadly had a shock followed by a depression, but the healthy kind of shock and depression that finally gets a point across to me when I just don’t value the importance of a very important rule, I took the time in the hours following the incident to really reflect on what I did wrong and what I should have done instead. I was still writing down my Zeus plan on paper when I accepted the call to Zeus next. I finished writing my Zeus plan 30 minutes into my Zeusing time and had not started building my Zeus mission yet. I took over an hour to build my Zeus mission and by the time I had my Zeus mission ready to play, I had kept the players waiting for over 90 minutes and First Lieutenant Crater, who had called to Zeus after me, rejoined the server at that time to find that I had not started my Zeus Mission yet. What I should have done instead was to either let someone Zeus first and request to Zeus after that person, or start building my Zeus mission without writing my plan and build just a part of my mission and make my mission content more concise to set up all my mission in good time. I would have chosen to let someone Zeus first while I finished writing up my plan because I was writing a script for the large amount of roleplaying I planned to do as well as all my notes and my scripted briefing to make my mission as quality and interesting as a Zeus mission as possible.

I know all you good-willed admins have informed me of, warned me of, and punished me multiple times for committing many Zeus rule infractions. And you guys have forgiven me multiple times and given me multiple second chances. I understand if you guys want to keep me banned from Zeusing on NAK indefinitely or permanently due to my horrible Zeus rule incident record and/or to prevent any more chances of me committing accidental Zeus rule infractions. I know my most recent major Zeus rule infraction broke one of the most basic, important, and highlighted Zeus rules.

To demonstrate transparency and honesty, I inform you, both reader and judge, that it has been three months and seven days since I paused writing my ban appeal at the conclusion of my previous paragraph until I began writing this sentence. The day I paused writing my ban appeal was indeed the day I was banned from Zeusing.

From the day I was banned until now, I accomplished my goal of completing all my time-consuming college applications. I realize I probably should not mention this since not everyone has the privilege of getting a college education, but college applications have been the focus of my life for the past half a year. And I should probably get a stable full-time job before I talk about stuff like this. With determination, many days of no video gaming and recreational activities, and taking time out of my active life, I was able to power myself through all my college applications and get everything done on time in spite of my strong dislike of doing college applications.

Also during my no NAK-Zeusing time period, I tried out different games to experience different gameplays, built a number of large and original creations on the Men of War Assault Squad 2 editor, and occasionally came up with ideas for Zeus missions for NAK and wrote them down.

I would like to say, ironic as it sounds, that I got myself banned from Zeusing because I was planning and setting up another one of my particularly ambitious missions, my most ambitious yet I’d say, and therefore neglected the amount of time I was taking to set up. Just to summarize the features of this mission I unfortunately may never get to do since it was tailored just for the Vietnam War NAK Event: The players are South Vietnamese Secret Service agents, and their objective is to blend into civilian village life and locate the whereabouts of a Viet Cong camp in the Area of Operations. The players would meet their landlord at their new houses and their boss at their day job, both roleplayed by me. Both actors would speak Mandarin (me using my fluency in Mandarin) in order to somewhat immerse the players in Vietnamese civilian life during the Vietnam War. The players would need me to translate of course, and I’d roleplay as a fellow agent translator. Once the players uncover the locations of the VC Camp, they would raid and destroy the camp at night with their smuggled weapons and exfiltrate.

Currently, my dream job is to be a Game Designer. I realize I’m going to have to learn a lot more than Zeusing and making things in-game editors if I want to have a career in Game Design. However, I’ve discovered over time in my life so far that I have not just a hobby, but a passion for creating things, coming up with my own ideas, sharing my creations with others, and receiving feedback on my creations as well as giving feedback to other creators in video games. I’ve encountered no facility better for my passion than Zeusing on NAK as of now. I must confess that in the time I have Zeused specifically on NAK and only on NAK, Zeusing was my favorite thing to do in life, And although I have learned it is possible to live without Zeusing and Zeusing may no longer be my favorite pastime if I am allowed to Zeus on NAK again, my passion for creating and Zeusing has survived and will continue to grow. I also ought to confess I discuss my Game Design passion extensively in my college application essays.

Being a player on NAK Servers is a beautiful thing and has its own unique benefits and experiences, and I will cherish and enjoy this to it fullest extent alongside fellow players and admins. But being a NAK Zeus, and only on NAK, empowers me to express gaming creations and innovation, receive immediate feedback on my Zeusing and Zeus missions, and get NAK Zeusing’s unique experiences.

One thing many NAK players and I really like about NAK is its many rules and strict rule enforcement. By requiring us players to cooperate, be decent to each other, and punishing anyone who steps out of line, including me, we can have NAK’s organized enjoyment that is impossible on Arma’s comparatively lawless public servers. Strict discipline equals maximum fun on NAK. And that’s why even though I naturally dislike that I was banned from Zeusing, I understand and agree with why this severe punishment was necessary.

Just to inform reader and judge regarding relations between the NAK players I have become acquainted with and I, a number of players have expressed how they have liked how my missions are well-planned, creative, unique, and enjoyable and voice their opinion that they would like me to Zeus more missions in the future. I mention this completely without the intention of boasting; on the contrary, I am very grateful that I am an appreciated player and Zeus in the NAK Community.

Although I realize I can no longer promise perfection in not breaking Zeusing rules because of my several failures to abide, I can and do promise my best. I will absolutely make sure I do not break the rule on Zeusing time limits and all the Zeusing rules I have broken before. I would like to declare, and I know this doesn’t excuse me from anything, as a player and a Zeus, all the infractions I have committed as a member of NAK have been genuinely accidental, never on purpose.

So now I humbly ask, alas one final time of admins and players alike, for your forgiveness.

I have got a few cool Zeus missions already planned out and ready to play, including an epic heavy urban combat Siege of Pyrgos and a vanilla Arma horror mission. I am eager and happy to Zeus for everyone if you all are willing to give me yet another chance.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my lengthy ban appeal and thank you for taking my ban appeal into consideration.

Sincerely,
brian_k2jebqt

I believe your ban will need to be looked at by Volcano. I will let him know

Talking about this matter with other Admins, I decided to give you a small chance.
I Will remove the Zeus role ban today and you will be under probation and you will be able to use the public Zeus slot.
After 30 days we can talk if you can take part in Zeus Training and then have the chance to have the whitelisted Zeus back.

please keep in mind that this is your last chance on the Zeus. In any new Rule-breaking, the Ban will be Perm.
if you have questions, feel free to ask me on Teamspeak when you see me online.

Thank you all so much. Your forgiveness truly means a lot to me.
