Question 1: In regards to the mission duration, rule 13 of the zeus server rules states that “missions should be no more than 90 minutes in length” is the setup time for the mission (building by the Zeus and loadout making by the players) included in the 90 minutes limit?
A: 90 Minutes is the limit for building and playing the mission. It is an approximation so if the mission goes for 100-120 min and there is no other Zeus lined up, it is acceptable. I definitely would draw the line in 120 min unless it’s a special event mission (You need my approval for these) or NAK Ops
Question 2: Is the Zeus allowed to restrict from what mods players choose their loadouts? IE: only vanilla CSAT.
A: This one is a little tricky, it depends on how many restrictions are getting put in place. A Zeus might say, only 7.62 and below and NATO. But this means that players can be any type of NATO and carry other stuff too (even if it’s modded). Something along the lines of too restrictive would be : NATO Only MX Series, no modded weapons, kitbag only, etc…
Again, restrictions are meant to be GENERAL, not specific. (Unless it’s NAK Ops)
Question 3: Is the Zeus allowed to choose players loadouts? IE: deleting the arsenal and giving a series of crates with weapons and ammo to the players.
A: Yes, but depends on the mission. If this happens the Zeus MUST place an arsenal down the line during the mission. They are a few exceptions to this rule like: Zeus made escape mission or Zeus made Anti Stasi. Now if it is a normal mission (Not NAK Ops) the players can decide on what to wear or use if it falls under standard restrictions.
Question 4: Is the Zeus allowed to only make available to the players a restricted arsenal?
A: This repeats itself by the answer to the previous question. Restricted arsenals are allowed but again, it depends on the type of mission.
Question 5: Is the Zeus allowed to restrict the usage of items in certain slots? IE: No backpacks, No Vests, no headgear.
If what you mean is, for example: only MG gunners can have backpacks and only snipers (and Captin Myth) can use a Boonie. Then no. Restrictions go across all players. The only exception I can see would be the following
1 MG per Fireteam
2 AT per fireteam
2 Medics per fireteam (so everyone else carries FAKs instead of the Medkit)
etc.
Again, if the mission is not NAK Ops having too many restrictions even over this is not allowed.
Question 6: In the case that the Zeus actions covered by questions 2~5 are conditional to the mission, requiring a good reason to be applicable, is balancing a good enough reason?
Yes, definitely. And I quote the Admin code of conduct “Admins must follow the written guidelines on how to handle situations. All of the various server rules have punishment guidelines. If an Admin deviates from the guidelines justification needs to be provided.”
If you are playing a mission, you have the right to know why is this being required. Vile used to say this and I 100% agree. “The mission is FOR THE PLAYERS, not the Zeus”. If a Zeus can’t bear with the fact that he sees invincible guns or naked people, then he needs to be talked to. In this case, I manage the server and its rules.
Question 7: Are admins, when not “zeusing” official events such as NAKOps, bound by the same rules as the players?
Yes, the admin code of conduct dictates the following and I quote: “Do not turn a blind eye to those who break the rules. Treat everyone equally. If an Admin breaks a rule, please report it to a Chiefs of Staff. If a player breaks a rule enforce it.” and “Admins must follow the same rules as the players do. You are not “above” the rules that you enforce.”
Admins are supposed to be held up to more strict standards than players. If an admin breaks a rule it is ironic that he then enforces the rules on players. Players usually forget or don’t know some rules (This doesn’t mean they won’t get punished), But if you are an admin you are supposed to know the rules of what you are enforcing. Again, we are all humans and sometimes we forget stuff, but if the issue is persistent or the violation is serious, it should be taken to a Chief of Staff.
Question 8: Are statements made by former admins, during their tenure with nak staff, to be disregarded or do they hold the same value as statements made by current admins
This depends, some statements are still applicable some aren’t, But Zeus rules mostly remain the same. In this case, you can see my answering matches Vile’s
